Hussain Ahmad Madani (1879 - 1947)
Shaykh Husain Ahmed Madani (6 October 1879 – 1957) was an Islamic scholar from the Indian subcontinent. His followers called him Shaykh al-Islam, Shaykh al-Arab wa ’l-’Ajam to acknowledge his expertise in hadith, fiqh, and his political struggle.
This lecture is a brief biography of this great scholar and freedom fighter and some reflections about his famous co-existence thesis elucidated in his book “Composite Nationalism and Islam”
Hussain Ahmad Madani was an Indian Islamic scholar, who served as the principal of Darul Uloom Deoband. He was among the first recipients of the civilian honor of Padma Bhushan in 1954.
